Salem plans $1.2 million summer street paving project | News, Sports, Jobs

SALEM The city is planning a street paving project this summer with an estimated $1.2 million cost, hitting a large number of streets and alleys that need attention.
“Everyone living on these streets will benefit from the paving,” Mayor John Berlin said.
The cost will be covered by the additional .25 percent income tax approved again by voters in 2019 for another five years. He said it’s “quite exciting” to continue with more paving thanks to the voters. ....

In The Groove Closing Its Downtown Owensboro Location
It was October of 2018 that James and Jeff Whitehouse opened In The Groove in downtown Owensboro. Their shop, which specializes in custom laser engraving, was located on 3rd Street. However, after a two-and-a-half year run in that location, the married partners will soon be closing that chapter and doors to the downtown space. When the In The Groove closes following its Christmas Eve morning shopping hours, that location will be closed permanently. However, that doesn t mean Jeff and James are going away. In The Groove actually continues to expand.
Yesterday evening, Jeff shared a heartfelt goodbye to the couple s downtown location. We have been here almost 2.5 years and we have gotten to know so many of you, near and far. We have laughed, cried, bled, and lost sleep over this location. But, here we are, at the close of another successful Holiday season, all because of y’all, and it is time to close our d ....
