Glacier National Park has announced it will implement a Going-to-the-Sun Road temporary ticketed entry system for the 2021 season.

WEST GLACIER — Glacier National Park has announced it will implement a Going-to-the-Sun Road temporary ticketed entry system for the 2021 season.
Park spokeswoman Gina Kerzman tells MTN News the ticketed entry will be in place to help the park manage difficulties with overcrowding issues and COVID-19 mitigations.
“We just felt like the ticketed entry would get us a couple of things, one, we would reduce the congestion in the park, and it would also prevent us from having backups on Highway 2, and it would allow our visitors to have a more quality visit and also allow us to protect resources since we expect a high number of visitors this summer,” said Kerzman.

Zion National Park to receive $33 million federal grant for new transit buses

Zion National Park will receive $33 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin replacing its current shuttle bus fleet with new battery-electric transit buses, according to a press release.
The replacement project will combine funding through USDOT's Nationally Significant Lands and Tribal Program with contributions from the National Park Service, Iron and Washington Counties, and the park's official non-profit partner the Zion National Forever Project.
The new fleet will include 26 battery-electric buses and 27 charging stations to replace the current propane-powered transit fleet. The press release says that engineering and service connections have been completed for the first phase of electric charging installation and the delivery of the new buses will occur periodically over the next several years.
