Crawford County Now BUCYRUS At Tuesday night’s regular Bucyrus City Council meeting, Council President Kurt Fankhauser, temporarily passed the gavel to President pro tempore Bruce Truka. Fankhauser approached the podium that is used by the public to address the council. He then read the following letter: It has recently come to my attention that there most likely is an active criminal investigation regarding the Council Office. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the parties involved, and the fact that the office itself may very well be a crime scene the office can no longer function properly. Therefore effective immediately I am closing the office pending any and all investigations so that said investigations can be concluded swiftly and un-fettered. ....

Bucyrus leaders working to keep GE plant viable By Andrew Carter - acarter@aimmediamidwest.com BUCYRUS City of Bucyrus officials have asked retail giant Walmart to help keep the GE Lighting-Savant manufacturing plant operating in Crawford County. On March 6, GE-Savant shut down its A-19 LED light bulb production line at the Bucyrus plant. GE-Savant announced on Jan. 6 that it was planning to close the line. Eighty-one employees, all members of IUE-CWA Local Local 84704, were affected by the decision. According to a GE spokesperson, a total of 46 employees were laid off and the rest found new jobs before the line was shut down. ....
