EU, PH to launch P580-M pioneering space program on disaster and climate change resiliency

The European Space Agency and the Philippine Space Agency (PSA) will soon implement the € 10 million (P580 million) National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Program for the Philippines (CopPhil) to help strengthen the country’s resilience to natural disasters and climate change.
This was announced by European Union (EU) Delegation to the Philippines Ambassador Luc Véron during the recent webinar, “Beyond the Stars, Reach out to the Skies,” held on June 25.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology at 9:09 a.m. recorded a quake of tectonic origin near Abra de Ilog in
Occidental Mindoro. It has a depth of 110 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS said that aftershocks are expected.

Presidential Communications Operations Office shared a graph that only showed a partial picture of the COVID-19 death rate ranking of the Philippines worldwide.
In a post on May 10, the PCOO Global Media Affairs account released a graph that showed the Philippines supposedly has low death rate compared to other countries in the world, citing data from the Coronavirus Resource Center of the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
“LOOK: The Coronavirus Resource Center of the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine based in the US released on Sunday, May 9, the latest update on the mortality rate of the top 20 countries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the post read. ....

Philippines ranked third in the COVID-19 case fatality rate in
Southeast Asia, according to a May 7 data from Our World In Data.
Our World In Data, a website providing global overview on how living conditions are changing, is “a collaborative effort between the researchers of the Oxford Martin Programme on Global Development at the University of Oxford.”
Meanwhile, the case fatality rate ranking was shared by youth-oriented science organization Earth Shaker Philippines in response to an infographic posted by the state-run Philippine News Agency on Monday.
