Cherokee Nation Film Office, Native American Media Alliance presents writer's seminar | Entertainment


TULSA – The Cherokee Nation Film Office has partnered with the Native American Media Alliance to launch the inaugural Native American Writers Seminar to help Native Americans break into the entertainment industry by supporting new and developing writers.
The weeklong virtual seminar, slated for this July, will include multiple writing-intensive workshops, as well as individual mentoring and group sessions focusing on the development of existing scripts and submission preparation for writing fellowships. 
“The Cherokee Nation Film Office is thrilled to present this new seminar for upcoming Native American screenwriters. We are experiencing a renaissance, where television and film audiences crave more diverse storytelling,” CNFO Director Jennifer Loren said. “The need to develop more Native American screenwriters who can take a seat at those tables and create that content is immediate. The Native American Media Alliance, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the Cherokee Nation Film Office, Kung Fu Monkey Productions, Snowpants Productions and Decolonizing Wealth Project, is thrilled to announce the selection of the 6th Annual NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB fellows.
Founded in 2016, the NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB is an intensive TV scriptwriters workshop that prepares Native Americans for writing careers. Fellows take part in a five-week curriculum curated by seasoned writing professionals.
