When Design Outreach, an Ohio-based nonprofit, visited the Chickwangwala village in Malawi in late 2020 to install a new pump, a local woman had died by crocodile attack while getting water from the river just a few days earlier. In fact, the village had just held a funeral for her the day before Design Outreach arrived.
“When the water first started flowing, people were celebrating and dancing and all sorts of things,” said Greg Bixler, co-founder and CEO of Design Outreach. “Fortunately, we can prevent a lot of those tragedies.” ....

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Jan. 28, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) The Grundfos Foundation (Poul Due Jensen Foundation) has released a DKK $1 million grant ($163,000 USD) to aid in the ongoing disaster response to an earthquake in West Sulawesi Province in Indonesia. The Grundfos Foundation has made this donation to Water Mission, a nonprofit organization, following the 15 January earthquake. Besides personal injuries and deaths, there has been extensive structural damage to buildings and homes, leaving approximately 40,000 people displaced in temporary shelters around the island. Water Mission is already on the ground, providing immediate disaster relief to address the urgent need for distribution of safe water. ....

Together, we delivered safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to over 1.6 million people around the world. While we quickly developed new protocols and specific solutions to meet COVID-related needs, we also accelerated our ongoing work in rural communities, crowded refugee settings, and in response to natural disasters. Our 400 staff members, based at our U.S. headquarters and in nine permanent country programs, worked tirelessly to deliver access to safe water throughout East Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. ....
