My grandfather ran for the prestigious position of school board director in 1946 for Independent School District No. 35 â otherwise known as the Buhl-Kinney Board of Education. It was reported that 1,080 voters cast their ballots in that election, and, in the end, he received the most votes (492). According to a newspaper story in the Buhl Herald, his victory set him up to earn a âlushy $1,800 three-year term.â The idea that $1,800 is âlushyâ seems a little absurd today but a quick Google search shows that after adjusting for inflation, that amount of money in 1946 is equal to the buying power of $25,761 in 2021. Apartment Fire in Buhl Sunday Evening BUHL, Idaho (KLIX)-A fire ripped through a two story apartment complex in Buhl Sunday evening. The Hagerman Fire Protection district posted on social media it had responded to help the Buhl Fire Department with a structure fire. The Buhl Herald posted video of firefighters using a ladder truck to spray water from above onto what appears to be a partially collapsed roof of the Meadow Brook Apartments on the north east side of town.
