Today is the last day for Bexar County property owners to appeal their 2021 property values with the Bexar Appraisal District. County Tax Assessor-Collector Albert Uresti is reminding property owners that his office doesn t set property values. Property values are determined by the Bexar Appraisal District, which is not part of the Tax Assessor-Collector s Office. Taxable properties are appraised every year on January 1st. The tax office says there have been fluctuations in value as a result of housing availability and the pandemic.

Bill Miller Bar-B-Q took another step toward moving its headquarters from downtown San Antonio with City Council approval Thursday of the sale of about 57 acres on the West Side.
The popular barbecue chain’s corporate offices and commissary have been at Santa Rosa Avenue and César E. Chávez Boulevard since 1971. Its catering operation also is based nearby.

In Balcones Heights, which covers less than 1 square mile, Wonderland of the Americas mall is prime property.
About 80 percent of the land in the city is commercial property, with the single-family residential tax base consisting of about 240 houses, said Lorenzo Nastasi, the city’s director of economic development and public affairs.
As the cost of services rises, officials are searching for new sources of revenue which could include an investment in Wonderland, the largest single piece of property in Balcones Heights.
