A Hervey Bay beach has been named among Queensland s top 10 beaches for 2021.
Released to coincide with the end of summer, the annual list of Queensland s top 10 patrolled beaches ranks popular locations based on safety, facilities and nearby services.
The Strand Net 1 in Townsville claimed the overall honour with Alma Bay on Magnetic Island second and Cylinder Beach on North Stradbroke Island was third.
Hervey Bay s Torquay Beach came in at number six on the list.
SLSQ Lifesaving Services Manager Peta Lawlor said a range of factors had been considered when compiling the list and selecting an overall winner. ....

Surf Life Saving Queensland s lifesaving services manager Peta Lawlor said the rule applied to people of all ages and swimming capabilities.
Alcohol impairs your judgment, slows your reaction time and reduces your co-ordination when in the water, she said.
It does not matter how young, fit or good you are at swimming, the ocean does not discriminate and you will be tested.
Surf Life Saving Australia s Coastal Safety Brief - Alcohol and Drugs also revealed most of the deaths were males between the age of 25-39 years old.

PARAMEDICS are urging holidaymakers to be much more water safe after a drowning spike as lifesavers warn about dangers of inflatables at the beach.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Grace Elliott said 100 extra paramedics and supervisors were rostered on for New Year s Eve-related incidents.
