DC Srinagar reviews implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) scheme

SRINAGAR : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) scheme in the district.
Sub Judge, District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar, Justice Noor Mohammad Mir; Chief Planning Officer Srinagar; ACD, Srinagar, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Panchayat Officer and other concerned were present in the meeting.
The meeting held thorough deliberation on various issues of concern like Child sex ratio, Infant mortality rate, Literacy rate, Gender ratio, implementation of PC&PNDT Act in the district besides other related issues. ....

Kishtwar: Kishtwar’s 7 year-old girl Samradhi Sen has won lakhs of hearts by her melodious singing and marvelous skill of playing harmonium.
Hailing from a small Hatta Village here, Samradhi Sen sings so well that after becoming a local star, her song videos are getting thousands of hits online. Apart from her melodious and mesmerising voice, she can also play the harmonium.
She has already participated in several music programmes and auditions at this tender age. The girl has impressed many people and everyone is appreciating her talent.
Her first public performance was witnessed when she participated in Beti Bachao Beti Padao programme organised by ICDS Department, Kishtwar. For her amazing performance she was awarded by then DC Kishtwar. After that she participated in “Choona Hai Asman” organised by the District Police Kishtwar in which she was selected for District level singing competition. JAMMU, Jan 29: Despite working tirelessly in implementation of various Government schemes and even acting as frontline workers during COVID pandemic, thousands of Anganwadi workers are without wages for last eight months in the UT of J&K. What has added to the woes of these hapless workers is their liability of some months of 2019 which have not been cleared by the Government till date.
As per sources, some of the workers even have not been paid the wages of 2019 while the supervisors and helpers are without wages for over last two and half years. Besides, the wages of displaced Anganwadi workers are pending for last two years putting them to acute hardships in their day-to-day life. ....

On National Girl Child Day, NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized an online lecture on the topic ‘Understanding Gender and Gender Equality’. The resource person was Dr Rajni Bala, Assistant Professor in Sociology, GDC RS Pura who extensively delved on the process of gendering from the birth of a child.
She talked on the three levels of gender construction- individual, interactional and institutional, gender roles inculcation, reinforcement of roles, the constructed nature of gender inequality and how it can be removed at the time of socialization of child itself. ....
