Genea-Musings: My Mother and Her Parents Dressed Up in 1919 -- Post 672 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I can t help it, I can t do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite colorized photographs:
This photograph is from late 1919 or early 1920 - perhaps taken at Christmas 1919 since everyone is dolled up with fancy outfits and furs. The baby has a bonnet and the mother has a hat that blended in with the trees in the background. It could be a baptism, but I don t know if the baby was baptized or not.
My mother, Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002) is the baby, with her parents Lyle Lawrence and Emily Kemp (Auble) Carringer, who married in June 1918. The photo must have been taken in San Diego, perhaps their home on Harrison Street, but I don t recognize the building. The Model T Ford is on the left mostly out of the photo. ....

I can t help it, I can t do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite photographs:
This photograph is of my mother, Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002) and her mother, my grandmother, Emily Kemp (Auble) Carringer (1899-1977). The photo was taken in about 1929, perhaps when my mother graduated from elementary school. The photo offers no idea of the setting, but it had to be in San Diego, perhaps in their home at 2130 Fern Street. Or it may be a professional photograph for a birthday or the Carringer s 10th wedding anniversary in 1928.
These are two of the three special women in my life. My grandmother was my caregiver from 1944 to 1946 while my mother was working and my father was in the U.S. Navy. They were both saints. ....

I can t help it, I can t do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite photographs:
This photograph was taken in late 1919 or early 1920 at 2105 30th Street in San Diego (the house is in the background). My mother, Betty Virginia Carringer is the child in the picture, being adored by her paternal grandparents, Henry Austin and Della (Smith) Carringer. Betty was their only grandchild since she was an only child and her father Lyle was Austin and Della s only child who lived past infancy. Austin is about age 67 in this photo and Della is about age 58. They built this house in about 1895 and lived in it until their deaths in 1946 and 1944, respectively. ....
