(WDAM) – Jones College first baseman Lauren Lindsey was selected as Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference “Player of the Week” for the week ending April 10. Lindsey, a true freshman from Baker High School in Mobile, Ala., batted .500 on the week with a double, home run and 10 RBIs. She went 4-for-5 with nine RBIs in Jones’ doubleheader sweep of Coahoma Community College.

Charles Chappell / CCImages.PhotoShelter.com With a little less than three minutes remaining in last Monday’s game against Gravette, the Berryville Lady Bobcats had a prime opportunity to throw in the towel and head into the offseason. But that’s not the Lady Bobcats’ style. Instead, Berryville responded to the late-game adversity by cranking up their defensive intensity and outscored Gravette 9-2 over the final 2:37 to secure a 54-49 victory in the quarterfinals of the 4A-1 district tournament. The win sent the Lady Bobcats into a district semifinal game the following night at Pea Ridge but more importantly clinched a spot for Berryville in next week’s district tournament at Ozark.
