An affordable apartment development, combined with an education and entrepreneurship center, could be coming to Milwaukee s Riverwest neighborhood.
A large downtown affordable apartment building and a Riverwest development that combines housing with a center for food entrepreneurs have both received preliminary financing approvals.
The 140-unit Michigan Street Commons would be built on around 7 acres bordered mainly by North Lovell, North 10th, West Michigan and West Clybourn streets.
Meanwhile, the 91-unit Riverwest apartments and food accelerator is planned for the 1100 block of East North Avenue, just west of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee s RiverView Residence Hall. ....

Bethesda Cornerstone Village planned in Wauwatosa would provide apartments for older people, and adults with developmental disabilities.
Two housing developments that include apartments set aside for adults with developmental disabilities are in the works for Milwaukee s near west side and Wauwatosa.
Both are being proposed by Watertown-based Bethesda Lutheran Communities Inc., a nonprofit group that provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In Milwaukee, Bethesda Cornerstone Village would be developed at 3200 W. Highland Blvd.
That building would be demolished and replaced by a five-story building with 68 apartments, Campbell said Monday. ....
