Jim Bobeck, who has more than 18 years of legal experience and 11 years of judicial experience, announced his candidacy for Luzerne County Judge in the Court of Common Pleas.
The Kingston resident is married with two children. Heâs cross-filed and said he has presided over more than 10,000 trials and wrote more than 1,000 judicial opinions.
âI strongly protect the rights of children having worked on over 100 child abuse cases and over 300 special needs cases ranging from autism support services to residential treatment,â he said. âI will firmly apply the rule of law and not legislate from the bench.â ....

Police: Man shoots, kills dog, injures dog's owner

He shot a pit bull multiple times, killing it around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Officials say one of those bullets hit the dog’s owner, William Clark of Pottsville, in the right thigh.
Clark was flown to Lehigh Valley hospital, where he was treated for his injury.
Witnesses say they heard several gunshots.
“Must have been about 15 to 20 shots. And one girl who was waiting in the reception room, jumped up and ran back,” said Wendy Lamp, who works at Pottsville Dental Center across the street from where the shooting took place.
“There was at least five shots, at least,” said Grisha Eidinov, who lives on West Market Street. ....

James Capello announces run for Magisterial District Judge in the City of Lebanon

James Capello announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge #52-2-01, a position that oversees five wards in the City of Lebanon, in an early January press release.
Capello is a 30-year-old Lebanon resident and graduate of Lebanon High School. He has previously worked in law enforcement as a Pennsylvania State Constable and as a Central Booking Agent, and he holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice Studies. Capello is a registered Republican.
The position, which serves the 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Wards in Lebanon, has been vacant since Thomas Capello, the previous judge, resigned midway through his term at the end of 2019. James Capello is the son of Thomas and current Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello. If elected, James Capello will succeed his father. ....
