CAMPAIGN 2021: Patrick Dougherty for Judge


Former Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty, 47, touts his passion about the legal system, and his experience.
“With the challenges of COVID-19 the next judge needs to be able to step in and get right to work,” Dougherty said.
“My courtroom experience is unmatched, whether it is criminal jury trials, civil litigation or family law,” he went on. “Since 2002, you would be hard pressed to find a lawyer who has spent more time in the courtroom than I have. I have handled all types of criminal matters ranging from murder to speeding tickets.”

Montgomery County disposed of 7,252 lbs. of unwanted medicines on Drug Take Back Day

Mazzie Casher and Steven Pickens haven’t personally lost anyone to gun violence. But they grew up together in the 1990s, when Philadelphia routinely recorded more than 400 murders a year, and don’t want to see that history repeat itself.
Pickens said they decided to take action in October after learning about another fatal shooting in West Philly that left a young man dead.
He felt overcome with despair.
“It was basically just pouring out at that time like, we have to do something,” said Pickens, 46, an emergency medical technician. ....

Montgomery County D.A. sets April 24 as Drug Take Back Day


NORRISTOWN — Using the slogan “Return of the Medi,” Montgomery County authorities are providing county residents the chance to safely rid their households of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications at an upcoming event to help combat the opioid epidemic and drug overdoses.
The Drug Take Back Day, organized by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24 at participating police departments and five grocery stores.
“A key way to make your home safer is to get rid of unwanted medications,” District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said. “But we don’t want residents to flush the meds or put them out in the trash—both are unsafe ways to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications. ....
