An evacuation alert has been issued in the Pemberton Valley north of Vancouver as river levels continue to rise rapidly, due to high temperatures and the resulting snowmelt.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a flood watch for the Lillooet River and its tributaries, including Pemberton, Lillooet Lake and Harrison Lake. It says river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed bankfull, and areas near the river may also flood. ....

Spring is in the air

With spring just around the corner we will all be busy getting ready for a fresh start. I have already heard from people that they are stocking up on their seeds and will be ready to start planting when the time is right. It s been a while since I personally had a garden where broccoli was the vegetable that grew in great abundance. Needless to say we had our fill of broccoli that year, along with carrots, lettuce and tomatoes.
I wanted to grow asparagus, but learned that you need a couple of years or more before you can actually grow this vegetable so that you can eat it. It seems the first year or so you can grow it, but can t eat it just yet. I of course don t have the patience to wait that long to enjoy the benefits. Needless to say, I love finding it in the grocery store and buy it often. I tried pumpkins one year, and got only two out of the seeds I planted. Two is a good start, and if I didn t move and got to continue with this garden I would have had better results eac ....
