The program is the brainchild of the district’s new Spanish teacher, Alejandro Gabriel Victoria.
Victoria grew up in Colombia but has been teaching Spanish in the United States for five years. He speaks Spanish, English and French and wants to broaden students’ opportunities to experience culture and the world through the lens of language.
“Since I was little I remember watching on TV French shows and English ’80s and ’90s TV shows,” Victoria said. “That encouraged me because I wanted to know about the culture. It’s very attached. There is no other way for you to learn about other people but by language. That’s the way we communicate.” ....
