APS powerline would ruin Sedona's iconic views. Move it underground

Sedona’s scenic Red Rock country is a magnet for tourists, attracting some 3 million visitors annually. The magnet is obvious. What visitors like most, according to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, is “the natural beauty of the area.”
Some of the most spectacular Red Rock views that lie just south of Sedona proper, in the neighboring Village of Oak Creek, are coming under pressure from the state’s largest utility company, Arizona Public Service, in the form of an unwelcome new powerline.
APS has proposed building a 10 to 15 mile above-ground 69kV powerline from nearby McGuireville into Oak Creek. APS says this will provide resiliency, important backup during power outages and an additional source of future power demand. They favor a route of 65-foot steel monopoles, laced with three or more high-voltage lines, spaced roughly 88 yards apart. ....

The Big Park Regional Coordinating Council is in the process of helping to create its own Community Vision Statement and Community Plan through Yavapai County. The Village is one of several communities that fall within the unincorporated portion of the county.

In order to thrive, a community needs a vision and a plan.
Those are the first words one sees when perusing a website dedicated to the Village Plan 2022.
“Unlike incorporated areas, we do not have funding or staff to undertake the work necessary for our Community Vision Statement and Community Plan. But we do have time, treasure, and extraordinarily capable and directly relevant talent in this community,” the website states. ....
