The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has appointed Somboon Sunanthapongsak as the 15th PWA Governor.
The newly appointed governor announced his commitment to lead PWA to reach a goal of providing waterworks services and management with excellence and sustainability in compliance with a new policy titled: “FORWARDS with dynamism to the next era”.
“I trust that waterworks services and management operated by PWA will continue to be reliable, in particular the organisation’s commitment to infrastructure development across all 74 provinces of Thailand, especially in areas where purified water is scarce,” Mr. Somboon said. ....

The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) has warned against the boiling of tap water to reduce salinity, saying that the best method is to use reverse osmosis filtering of brackish water.
The Anti-Fake News Centre has checked with the MWA and was told that boiling of brackish tap water at 100
oC will not reduce the salt content, but will cause the water to evaporate, leaving the water even saltier.
As a temporary relief measure, the MWA has been providing free drinking water to the public at all its branch offices.  Also, the MWA is keeping households in Bangkok and suburbs updated on the condition of tap water and about when it is good for consumption and when it turns brackish, which is related to high and low tides. ....

Thailand is urgently tackling a saltwater intrusion problem after the amount of sodium in tap water exceeded the standard level.
The president of a subcommittee in charge of managing the Chao Phraya, Ping, Wang, Yom and Nan water basins, Weerakorn Khamprakob, said sodium in tap water was on Jan 30 measured at 2.2 grammes/litre which was deemed too much for consumption. ....
