Born to Lawrence (Larry) and Bernice (Bunny Fale) Nason, he was the middle of three children. While he would claim he was the overlooked middle child, his sisters, wife, and all other family members would certainly say his beloved mother definitely spoiled him.
Bob spent his very happy childhood in Melrose, Mass. where he attended and graduated from elementary and high schools. He grew up in a tight-knit neighborhood of families and friends and remained in touch with many throughout his life.  ....

Homelessness Advisory Committee Talks Permanent Supportive Housing

The Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance outlined the pilot project, called A Place to Live, to the Homelessness Advisory Committee on Wednesday. The nonprofit s  President Joseph Finn said the organization is working with Mayor Linda Tyer s office to create housing that he says is a cost-effective model of permanent supportive housing that can be replicated across the state.

Right now, do we really need people living one, two, three, or four years within a shelter? Finn said. We can do better than this.

MHSA is receiving about $150,000 per year for the next five years to help fund this project.

A Place To Live is also referred to as the Worcester Model because, in June 2020, Worcester Housing Authority became the first agency in the state to receive permits and state approval for adopting the micro-unit concept. A Place to Live: Worcester will provide permanent supportive housing for adults experiencing long-term ....

'The wave ... has definitely arrived': With moratorium lifted, eviction notices flood Berkshire County

After the expiration of Massachusetts’ eviction moratorium, hundreds of renters in Berkshire County found eviction notices taped to their doors.
In the month after Oct. 17, when the moratorium was lifted, 327 14-day notices were served through the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office. During the same period last year, 102 were served.
Although a notice to quit formally communicates a landlord’s intent to terminate the lease, tenants do not have to leave their housing until a court orders an execution after hearing the case.
“The wave that we were all concerned with has definitely arrived,” said Elton Ogden, president of the Berkshire Housing Development Corp. and Berkshire Housing Services. ....

Springside camp a 'difficult dilemma' amid effort to help Pittsfield homeless

PITTSFIELD — More than a week after the deadline to evict homeless people from Springside Park, city leaders say they stand opposed to dismantling a homeless encampment there.
Mayor Linda Tyer told the City Council on Tuesday said the situation presents a “very difficult dilemma,” and that case workers continue to “engage” those at the park with hopes they move to the city’s winter shelter or accept “housing options” made available by Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority.
She said her administration would not “force anybody into the shelter, we’re not forcing anyone into housing that they don’t want to take advantage of.” ....
