Chick-fil-A South Point now open

Located across from South Point High School, the 5,000-square-feet restaurant features a shaded double-lane drive-thru, an outdoor patio, and enough indoor seating for 102 people. There are more than 50 parking spaces around the restaurant, and the drive-thru can accommodate 28 cars.
Cars trickled into the Chick-fil-A parking lot and drive-thru Tuesday morning. The drive-thru began to take on more substantial traffic closer to noon.
The fast-food restaurant opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Chick-fil-A will serve food from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Sunday.
"It will probably do good for the high school students, especially after they get out of school," said Belmont Mayor Charlie Martin. He expects the business to do well based on its proximity South Point High and the Harris Teeter, where he also shops for groceries.

Chik-fil-A's second Belmont location opening soon

Chick-fil-A expects its second location in Belmont will open this summer, though an exact date wasn’t given.
“It’s our pleasure to confirm we will be opening a new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Belmont this summer. We look forward to joining the community and serving all of our guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality,” a spokesperson for the fast-food chain wrote in a statement.
Just three miles south of Chick-fil-A on Park Street, the new 5,000 square-feet location will feature a shaded, double-lane drive-thru that can accommodate 28 cars, a brick exterior finish, patio seating with umbrellas suitable for 24 customers and more than 50 parking spots. The dining room can seat up to 102 people, according to plans submitted to the city of Belmont.

Months after Black employees called out widespread racism at the California Air Resources Board (CARB), Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed two African American women to the board of the California agency that shapes state policy against air pollution.
Last week, the governor announced that he appointed Liane Randolph, 55, of Oakland, who was in charge of integrating the resource-planning processes at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), as the new chair of CARB.
“Cleaner air is essential for California’s families and Liane Randolph is the kind of bold, innovative leader that will lead in our fight against climate change with equity and all California’s communities at heart,” Gov. Newsom said. “By committing to achieving carbon neutrality and a clean economy, my Administration is fighting for a healthier and more vibrant future for our families and our economy.”
