Belpre Area Veterans sell blue light bulbs to support police | News, Sports, Jobs

BELPRE Belpre Area Veterans hope to light up the city with blue light bulbs on Sunday evening for their “Support the Blue” campaign, which is raising funds and support for Belpre police.
“We came up with the idea at a meeting one night just to do something to support the police department,” said Bill Harpold, president of the Belpre Area Veterans. “Just to let them know that we support them and appreciate everything they do for us.” ....

Unsure of what to do with unused or expired prescription drugs, residents in the Mid-Ohio Valley can drop them off at various locations as part of the National Take-Back Day program on Saturday.
The day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Washington County Deputy Sheriff Duane Painter said residents can bring anything from insulin needles, pills and medication patches. Liquid medications will not be accepted and COVID protocols must be used at the locations.
Materials must be provided in a bag, but Painter said volunteers will bag the items if residents are unable to provide one. ....

PARKERSBURG The United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley has again exceeded its campaign goal, officials announced Tuesday.
The agency raised $1.115 million in the 2020-21 campaign, a remarkable figure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that impacted all segments of the community and hindered fundraising of non-profit groups for the past year. ....
