Community-driven effort will develop roadmap for university’s next decade March 10, 2021 SHARE With an aim to be bold, transformative and collaborative, Washington University in St. Louis has officially begun its strategic planning process to develop a roadmap that will guide the university’s future over the next decade. “WashU Strategic Planning: Defining Our Vision for Washington University’s Future” will be an 18-month endeavor, heavily informed by feedback from members of the university and St. Louis communities. “This is an exciting time for Washington University, brimming with potential for what will undoubtedly be a remarkable future,” said Chancellor Andrew D. (Photo: James Byard/Washington University) Washington University in St. Louis has launched a national search for a new dean to lead professional and continuing education at the university. Currently operating as University College, the school is being reimagined as a community-focused hub for adult learners in the St. Louis region, providing new programs for career advancement and enrichment. Pending approval by the Board of Trustees later this spring, the new school will launch with new academic divisions in areas including data, health and health care; and management and administration. It also will have new opportunities for students to complete programs within the liberal arts. Undergraduate and graduate students will continue to be served. ....
January 22, 2021 SHARE Stephens Denise Stephens will be leaving her position as vice provost and university librarian at Washington University in St. Louis, Provost Beverly Wendland announced. Stephens has been appointed dean of libraries at the University of Oklahoma, from which she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and will begin that role in May. Stephens joined the university in 2017. She has managed University Libraries’ nine locations, the system’s vast archives and special collections, and more than 150 staff. Stephens led development of the libraries’ strategic plan and oversaw completion of the renovation of the John M. Olin Library, which included new study and exhibition spaces, enhanced technology and more. ....
