Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio May 27, 2021 | 11:17 AM Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s COVID-19 testing services are moving to Building 207, allowing the hospital’s C Building Entrance to reopen this coming Tuesday. A news release says “with the COVID-testing tent move and the relocation of the COVID testing to Building 207, the C Building parking and the C Building hospital entrance are able to reopen. The new COVID-testing site is in Building 207, just off of Bastogne Ave, immediately south of Bank of America.” Hospitals say there has been an increase in demand for COVID testing and a new focus on immunizations. ....
Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio May 18, 2021 | 2:40 PM Blanchfield Army Community Hospital now offers the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children and teens ages 12 and older. According to a news release, the Food and Drug Administration has expanded the emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to include children and teens ages 12 to 15. Pfizer’s clinical trials involving 12 to 15 year olds showed 100 percent efficacy, robust antibody responses, and no serious side effects. BACH Commander Colonel Patrick Birchfield says, “Although most children who get COVID-19 seem to recover, we do not know the lasting impacts COVID-19 may have on them. As more contagious strains of the virus spread, it is critically important to protect children and teens with the COVID-19 vaccination.” ....
Top officials at Fort Campbell hosted a virtual town hall Tuesday night updating the community on COVID-19 numbers, vaccinations and summer considerations. Discussing the vaccination numbers, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell Commanding General Maj. Gen. JP McGee said, âThe numbers are steadily raising in terms of those soldiers who have chosen to take the vaccine and that is fortifying our unit, our community in order to make sure that we are protected against this new, tremendously dangerous strain of the virus.â Garrison Commander Col. Jeremy Bell, announced that Tuesday marked the 13th day of decreasing COVID-19 cases. ....

Those who were highly motivated at the post are already fully immunized. The post has vaccinated 23,000 people so far. That’s roughly a third of those who are eligible, counting family members and retirees. But the rest take varying degrees of convincing, says Col. Patrick Birchfield, commander of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell. ....
