San Diego County Supervisors consider vaccines for law enforcement, grants to small businesses

SAN DIEGO
County supervisors on Tuesday will consider a third round of aid to small businesses hurt by the COVID-19 shutdown and a proposal to immediately vaccinate law enforcement officers from the coronavirus.
Supervisors Joel Anderson and Terra Lawson-Remer propose making grants to small businesses a priority if the county receives additional federal COVID-relief funds. Under their proposal, the county would develop the program to provide $30 million in grants to small businesses, or at least $6 million for each county district.
Lawson-Remer said the grants would be dependent on an allocation from Congress. While the timing of that is uncertain, she said preparing now would help deploy the money more efficiently when and if it does come. ....

Will Super Bowl boost San Diego business or become superspreader event?

Before the pandemic arrived last March, Societe Brewing Company bought several big screen TVs for sports viewing. The Super Bowl this weekend would seem an opportune time to finally break them out, but owner Doug Constantiner decided he’s keeping them in storage for now.
“I definitely don’t want a huge gathering,” he said. “We will be open up until halftime this Sunday, and I’ll be watching the game at home with my wife and little daughter.”
That won’t be the case at Chris Shaw’s popular restaurants and bars in Hillcrest where he’s expecting lines out the doors this Sunday afternoon just as there were last Sunday. With a dozen outdoor TV screens at Urban Mo’s alone, there will be ample vantage points for watching Tom Brady try to score his seventh Super Bowl win. But with social distancing limitations, there’s far less outdoor space to accommodate customers, be they football fans or the normally robust Sunday crowd. ....

San Diego County caught sharing home addresses, personal information of coronavirus "cases" with law enforcement

(Natural News)
After refusing to release data to the general public that some say could have helped to stem the tide of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “cases,” San Diego County was caught secretly sharing the home addresses and other private information of said “cases” with local law enforcement.
For the past nine months, reports indicate, public health officials in San Diego have been handing over lists upon lists of personal data for all area residents who tested “positive” for Chinese germs. Back in April 2020, Theresa Adams, a sheriff’s commander, said she asked the county’s emergency operations center for permission to distribute them “for the safety of first responders.” ....

Mayor Gloria to Sign Order For Enforcement of Public Health Orders Ahead of NYE

The bolstered enforcement efforts went into effect at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
The executive order, which came one day after California extended its regional stay-at-home order for the Southern California region due to surging COVID-19 hospitalizations, also suspends enforcement of parking regulations throughout the city in an effort to encourage San Diegans to abide by the stay-at-home order.
The city will not be enforcing parking meter violations, time-limited parking, yellow commercial zones, and short-term green zones. Red, white, and blue parking areas will continue to be enforced, however.
As mayor, I cannot sit idly by as our local hospitals and morgues threaten to overflow as the coronavirus surges unchecked throughout our region, Gloria said. ....
