NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Despite new CDC guidance allowing fully vaccinated people to go without masks while indoors, the Metro Nashville Public Health Department announced its indoor mask requirement will remain in place.
Metro Public Health Department Director of Communications released the following statement Thursday afternoon.
The Metro Public Health Department is encouraged by the recently updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, further emphasizing the importance of widespread COVID-19 vaccination. We look forward to a time when more of our countyâs population is vaccinated, allowing mask requirements to safely be dropped altogether in public settings. Kirk Cameron drew the ire of L.A. County Public Health Department Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer on Wednesday, who called the former child star’s unmasked Christmas caroling gathering “irresponsible” and “unnecessary.”
Cameron organized the event, which took place Tuesday night outside The Oaks mall in Ventura County. Ironically, a COVID-19 testing center is located next door. The event, which Cameron described on his Instagram page as a “Christmas Caroling Peaceful protest,” drew about 100 people, ABC7 reported. ....

LOS ANGELES (KABC) Los Angeles County s hospital space continued to dwindle Monday as the latest COVID-19 surge has positioned the county to risk becoming the worldwide epicenter of the pandemic, and leaving health officials concerned holiday gatherings could cause further strains on the hospital system.
L.A. County Public Health Department Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer said the latest spike is creating a health care crisis and overwhelming hospital ICUs, adding that the current surge is tied to too many Southern Californians traveling and attending holiday gatherings.
Officials are once again warning people not to travel and gather during the upcoming holidays. Since the beginning of the surge in November, cases have increased in L.A. County by 862%. ....

Dec. 19 Whatcom County has 27 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and eight probable cases, according to the Washington State Department of Health Friday, Dec. 18. No additional deaths were reported for Whatcom County
Whatcom County now has seen 3,069 confirmed cases, and 52 related deaths during the pandemic, according to state data as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. That means that 1.7% of the Whatcom residents who have tested positive for COVID during the pandemic have died.
Eight probable cases have been reported in Whatcom County during the pandemic resulting from positive antigen tests, but those cases were not confirmed by a molecular test. ....
