COVID deaths have increased at a disturbing rate in April, Public Health-Muskegon County numbers show.
After recording just one death in March, the county has had 15 in April, bringing the total to 314.
It’s unclear if the new variant, B.1.4.2.9, was involved in the deaths, said Kathy Moore, director of the health department. The variant has been detected in at least two cases in Muskegon County, she said. ....

In Muskegon County, there’s been a significant drop in the number of hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19 over the past week.

There’s been a significant drop in the number of hospitalizations and deaths over the past week.
“I’m feeling like we’re getting it under control,” Kathy Moore, public health director for Muskegon County, told MLive.
The county had seen weeks of hospitalizations numbering at least 40 and those on ventilators averaging nearly 20. But on Thursday, Jan. 28, Mercy Health reported 21 hospitalized COVID patients, six of them on ventilators. ....
