The City Council s task is difficult because responsibility is spread over multiple Portland agencies or outside city s purview.
As the Portland City Council grapples with reforming the city s public safety system, it is confronting two longstanding issues Portland s nearly unique form of government and the fact that some elements are the responsibility of other jurisdictions, including Multnomah County.
The social justice protests sparked by the death of George Floyd have focused attention on the criminal justice system, including the need for police reform. ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Six Tompkins County Legislators announce their bids for re-election.
The legislators are Shawna Black representing the Town of Ithaca, Amanda Champion also representing the Town of Ithaca, Deborah Dawson representing the Villages of Lansing and Cayuga Heights, Henry Granison representing the City of Ithaca, Dan Klein representing Caroline and Danby, and Anne Koreman representing the Town of Ulysses and Enfield.
Petitioning for the candidates begins February 23rd, the primary is set for June 22nd, and the General Election is scheduled for November 2nd.
