Teen who threatened to kill EPL player and his family gets probation

A Singaporean teenager who threatened to kill English Premier League (EPL) football player Neal Maupay and the sportsman s family members was sentenced yesterday to nine months probation.
Mr Maupay, a 23-year-old forward with Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, and his family were in Britain when Derek Ng De Ren, now 19, made the threats in June and July last year.
Ng had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment. Two other similar charges were considered during sentencing.
STAY INDOORS
As part of his probation, he has to remain indoors from 10pm to 6am every day and perform 40 hours of community service. His mother was bonded for $5,000 to ensure his good behaviour. ....

A full-time national serviceman (NSF) was sentenced to 18 months probation yesterday for duping the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) of $2,500 from the Temporary Relief Fund (TRF).
The court heard that Yee Jia Hao, 20, had submitted eight bogus applications using his mobile number for the TRF, a one-off interim assistance scheme to help those who had lost their jobs or a substantial portion of their income due to Covid-19. The fund is administered by MSF and the People s Association. ....
