Georgetown assistant city manager accepts new position in Cibolo

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Assistant City Manager Wayne Reed of Georgetown has accepted the position as the City Manager for the City of Cibolo. His last day with the City of Georgetown will be June 25.
Cibolo City Council approved his hire at its meeting on June 8 and his first day in Cibolo will be July 12.
It has been a privilege to be a part of the Georgetown team these past five and a half years, says Reed. I have been provided opportunities by David Morgan to lead diverse service areas and oversee initiatives to improve the culture and performance of the organization. ....

For the first hour or so of Tuesday’s meeting of the Dallas City Council’s Transportation Committee, council members listened as the region’s top transportation official and the assistant city manager who oversees transportation discussed the need for a more integrated approach to long-range planning.

City council makes decision on utility late fees

San Marcos City Coucilmembers voted Tuesday to continue the city’s pause on terminating utility services and charging disconnect fees for nonpayment during the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
Due to the coronavirus, the city council agreed to halt disconnections in March. In July, councilmembers approved extending the freeze on disconnects.
They also voted to have a special meeting the week of Dec. 8 to discuss the allocation of $2.67 million in general fund dollars as a result of the allocation of $3.65 million in CARES Act funding through the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
After spending much of the CARES funds on eligible medical, public health, payroll expenses and economic support expenses, TDEM recommended the remainder of the funds be allocated to the San Marcos Police Department and fire department payroll expenses, if no further programs would meet the specific program specifications within the tight timeline. ....

Council to discuss use of millions in CARES funding

Tuesday’s San Marcos City Council meeting will be the first post-election meeting with all four recently elected members sitting on the dais, following Dec. 8 s runoff.
Mayor Jane Hughson returns for another term and Councilmember Mark Gleason takes a seat as the city council discusses CARES  Act funding, utility disconnections for non-payment, a moratorium on financial incentives for residential developments and many appointments to boards and commissions.
Related to COVID-19, the councilmembers will discuss the use of approximately $2.5 million in available funding  from CARES support.
The state of Texas allocated $3,655,630 in CARES  Act money from the federal government for the purpose of medical, public health, payroll expenses, economic support, and other related expenses; city staff will be providing a proposal of the expenses including PPE, mobile computers, a phone system upgrade and others. ....
