POTTSVILLE — A Lancaster County man will spend more time in state prison after a Schuylkill County judge sentenced him for having a weapon while an inmate in July 2019.
Jorge O. Garcia, 26, of Elizabethtown, must serve 2½ to five years in a state correctional institution, Judge James P. Goodman ruled.
Goodman also sentenced Garcia to pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account.
After a one-day trial, a jury found Garcia guilty on Oct. 30 of inmate procuring weapon and prohibited possession of offensive weapon. State police at Frackville charged Garcia with possessing the weapon on July 8, 2019, at SCI/Mahanoy.

Pine Grove man headed to state prison for 2 police chases


POTTSVILLE — A Pine Grove motorist is headed to state prison after admitting earlier this month to a Schuylkill County judge that he led state police on two chases in January.
Tyler J. Nornhold, 23, must serve two to four years in a state correctional institution, President Judge William E. Baldwin decided.
Nornhold’s prison time consists of consecutive sentences of one to two years in each of his two cases.
Additionally, Baldwin sentenced Nornhold to pay costs, $1,500 in fines, $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, and submit a DNA sample to law enforcement authorities. ....

POTTSVILLE — A Pine Grove man will spend time in prison after admitting Wednesday to a Schuylkill County judge that he falsely identified himself to a police officer in May 2019.
James D. Beuchler, 40, pleaded guilty to false identification to law enforcement and driving under suspension. Prosecutors withdrew charges of failure to carry license, failure to notify of change of address, seat belt violation and operating vehicle without valid inspection.
President Judge William E. Baldwin accepted the plea and sentenced Beuchler to serve 30 days to 12 months in prison and pay costs and a $300 fine.
State police at Schuylkill Haven charged Beuchler with falsely identifying himself on May 15, 2019. ....
