New behavioral health wing opens at Gouverneur Hospital


GOUVERNEUR — During a private Open House ceremony Monday night, Gouverneur Hospital unveiled its new Outpatient Behavioral Health Services wing in the east side of the Hospital.
Gouverneur Hospital Board members Mark Brackett, Roger Cook, Andy Leonard, and Ted Totten; St. Lawrence Health Board Member Brian Gardam; Deputy Chief of Staff Logan Eddy from Senator Patricia A. Ritchie’s office; and Gouverneur Mayor Ronald McDougall were among those in attendance to learn about and view the new space.
Gouverneur Hospital CEO Eric Burch welcomed the guests and commented on all the successes the Hospital has seen come to fruition since it formally opened in January 2014. Some of the milestones include the completion of a $2.5 million renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department, upgrading Imaging Services with 3D mammography, and the relocation of Inpatient Detox services from Potsdam to Gouverneur. ....

MA Public Health Council Amendments to Clinic Licensure Regulations

On April 28, the Massachusetts Public Health Council (“PHC”) approved final proposed amendments to the clinic licensure regulations.  The initial revisions presented by the Department of Public Health (the “Department”) in 2016 focused on making the regulations more readable, updating definitions as necessary, and aligning the clinics’ reporting requirements with other state and federal requirements.  Following the initial public comment period, the Department collaborated with MassHealth, the Department of Mental Health (“DMH”), and the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (“BSAS”) to better integrate mental health services and treatment of substance use disorder in clinic settings.  Additional revisions reflecting the collaboration with MassHealth, DMH, and BSAS were presented to the PHC in January 2020.  Following that presentation, the Department held a second public comment period and made additional revisions to the ....
