The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, on Friday, inaugurated a-17-Man Steering Committee headed by Professor Mike Ogirima to begin the groundwork for the establishment of the Medical Sciences Programme in the University.
The VC while performing the ceremony at the University Council Chamber said the inauguration followed the approval of the Senate to establish Medical and Engineering Courses in the institution at its sixty-one (Special) Meeting held at the University, on Thursday.
Professor Akinwumi said that all things being equal, the Medical College will commence operation next academic session. ....

AICTE says physics, chemistry, maths to continue to be important subjects for engineering courses

New Delhi, Mar 13: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will continue to be important subjects in engineering courses and it is not mandatory for state government or institutions to offer these courses to students who have not studied them in Class 12, the AICTE said on Friday. Addressing a press conference, AICTE chairperson Anil Sahasrabudhe also said students opting for streams like Biotechnology, Textile or Agriculture Engineering will have an option to not study these subjects in Class 12.
The clarification by Sahasrabudhe came following news reports about Physics and Mathematics no longer being compulsory for studying engineering as per the approval handbook for 2021-22 issued by the AICTE. ....
