Study reveals Borealis Bornewables range of PP substantially reduces GHG emissions

Study reveals Borealis Bornewables range of PP substantially reduces GHG emissions 21 May 2021 × Borealis The study was carried out by ifeu, an independent ecological institutes, based in Heidelberg, Germany. They analysed the life cycle emissions of Borealis’ PP produced at its production sites in Kallo and Beringen, Belgium, when Neste’s renewable feedstock was used in the production to replace conventional feedstock. The study showed that from cradle-to-gate (all steps from the sourcing of raw materials to products leaving Borealis’ production site), GHG emissions are reduced by at least 120% (2.7kg of CO2 equivalent per kg of PP) compared with PP manufactured with fossil-based feedstock at the same location.

HDPE resin grade a paradigm shift , claims ExxonMobil

February 17, 2021 ExxonMobil is promising a “paradigm shift” in the properties normally associated with unimodal HDPE resins, with the launch of a new grade of Paxon HDPE. Offering a step-change in environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR) performance, or processability, Paxon SP5504 is suitable for household and industrial chemical bottles and containers for products like bleach, wipes, and agricultural chemicals. In addition, post-consumer resin can be increased due to the better property balance of the virgin resin. “Until now, converters have often had to compromise to get the right ESCR performance of blow moulded HDPE bottles and containers,” said Dr James Stern, HDPE business development manager for North America & EMEAF at ExxonMobil. “But, because there is no compromise in density or melt index, Paxon SP5504 enables converters to create cost-effective packaging solutions for household and industrial chemicals.”
