Woodbury Park to receive new playground following council bid approval

Woodbury Park will receive a new ADA-certified playground for the community to enjoy following a $336,000 bid approval from Craig city council during the Feb. 9 council meeting.
Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Dennison said the new playground at Woodbury Park is a capital funds project that has been in the works for the last year. Dennison said that Parks and Rec received five bids on the project from vendors.
“As you can see, the playground at Woodbury, it’s in desperate need of upgrades, so this will be a positive upgrade for the community,” Dennison said.
Dennison told councilors that Parks and Rec was really looking for something with easy access for the community and had play features that kids of all ages could enjoy at the park. ....

Nearly all of Craig Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Dennison’s tenure with the department has been under the shadow of the pandemic.
That hasn’t stopped him from enjoying what he does, however. Dennison, who celebrates his one-year anniversary today, worked as the recreation director for five years before taking over the top position.
Dennison fell in love with parks and rec while he was a sophomore at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. ....

As COVID-19 cases rise the Craig Parks and Recreation Department is working on ways to keep community members active and outside. And despite Old Man Winter’s growing presence, the Parks and Rec department is working on developing programs for all ages, including snowshoeing.
Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Dennison said the key to success is to be adaptable. When COVID-19 first hit, Dennison said they had to quickly go to a contingency plan for the swimming complex and follow state and local guidelines in all their programming. ....
