The full potential of renewable energies (RE) in Sierra Leone is yet to be fully realised. With one of the lowest electricity access rates in the world, Sierra Leone’s national electrification rate is approximately 26 percent. Within rural areas, this figure falls to just six percent. 
The country’s energy industry, let alone specifically concerning renewables, faces significant challenges of a complicated distribution system, a weak infrastructure with high technical and commercial losses, and an insufficient capacity, combined with low voltage quality. Situation Overview
As of 31 December 2020, in Sierra Leone, there were 2,611 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 76 deaths and 1,892 recoveries. Fifty-four cases were in COVID-19 designated treatment centers. Health workers account for 9.1 per cent of all cases – a reduction of 0.6 per cent from the previous situation report.
The overall case fatality rate (CFR) decreased to 2.9 per cent of all cases compared to the previous situation report and remained at 15.3 per cent for those 60 years of age and older. A total of 90,202 COVID-19 tests were conducted (11.77 per 1,000 people).
Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural districts, comprising the capital Freetown, made up 62.2 per cent of all cases reported nationally. Other districts with relatively high attack rates include Kenema (4.8%), Port Loko (4.6%) and Bo (4.3%). ....

In tandem with one of its mandate to prevent corruption, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Southern Regional Office has, on the 22
nd January 2021, engaged newly recruited school inspectors in Bo District on ways to uphold integrity in the execution of their duties. The engagement took place at the office of the Teaching Service Commission, Gbaiima Road, in Bo.
Addressing the school inspectors, ACC’s Regional Manager, Musa Jawara, said the meeting was an opportunity to educate them on corruption issues and partner in the fight against the scourge. ....

Controversial Lands and Country Planning Minister, Dr. Dennis Sandy a man who has embarrassed the Maada Bio Government so much and is abhorred by even ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP )  supporters for his callous destruction of people’s homes and seizure of lands belonging to private citizens almost marred the much-awaited Constituency 110 Bye-elections in Freetown last Saturday and should by now have been fired by President Maada Bio.
In presenting its report on the much-heated bye-elections, the National Elections Watch ( NEW ) issued a serious complaint about Minister Sandy. According to NEW , Sandy stormed a polling station at Kent Village with thugs and disrupted the work of the National Elections Commission ( NEC ). One of the thugs even threatened the life of a district electoral commission. ....
