People Daily on Thursday, April 29, indicated that Kenya Revenue Authority was concerned with the resurgent of the multi-billion shilling syndicate.
The business had been slightly disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic but is said to be in full swing with the cars flooding Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley regions.
The syndicate targets luxury cars such as Nissan saloons, Honda Civic SUVs, Mitsubishi and Renault.

NTSA conducts system training for members of public

The National Transport and Safety Authority-NTSA has today conducted systems training for members of the public.
This is ahead of the planned roll-out of the revamped Transport Integrated Management Systems-TIMS.
While presiding over the training, Director-General George Njao said the move is in line with the Authority’s digital transformation journey.
“In undertaking its mandate, the Authority is in the process of rolling out a revamped Transport Integrated Management System for better service delivery to the public,” Njao said.

NTSA's TIMS system down, all services affected – Nairobi News


NTSA said in a statement that the system failure was due upgrading of security features in a bid to deliver better quality of services.
“The Authority recently reviewed its business processes and upgraded its infrastructure including implementation of additional security controls within the TIMS system. Due to these, we have regrettably experienced some service interruptions. We are however working around the clock to stabilize the system for better performance,” the statement read in part.
NTSA did not say when it expects things to be back to normal, only adding that it will keep people updated.
“We will keep you updated and apologize for the inconveniences caused.” ....

A group of highly connected smugglers have been minting millions using forged documents to slip stolen cars into Kenya.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), its platforms have been infiltrated by crooks who work in cahoots with the smugglers.
“NTSA has been in the process of reviewing and re-platforming the Transport Integrated Management System following the implementation of data recovery system,” NTSA’s senior deputy director in charge of communication Dido Guyatu told the media.
This was after they realised the smugglers have been using the platform to generate fake documents for the stolen vehicles (mostly luxury cars) that are then sold to unsuspecting Kenyans. ....
