17 die in road crashes
846 road traffic crashes reported in all 36 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours
LAHORE:
At least 17 people were killed whereas 915 others were injured in 846 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours.
Out of the total injured, 571 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas 344 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.
The majority of the accidents, around 72 per cent, involved motorcycles.
Furthermore, the analysis showed that 388 drivers, 40 underage drivers, 94 pedestrians, and 450 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

“So, even though there were fewer crashes, more crashes were severe. You were more likely to be killed in a crash, even though there were fewer crashes in 2020,” Wingrove says.
Wingrove says they’re still trying to determine the cause of the increase, but they speculate an increase in speed caused by there being fewer people on the road may have contributed to it.
