I want to acknowledge and thank the Traffic Safety Team at DelDOT for fixing a dangerous safety problem beside the Georgetown-Lewes Trail next to Minos Conaway Road. On the north side of the trail just east of Minos Conaway Road there is a small piece of land in the 67-foot DelDOT right-of-way where a few motorists have been parking their cars to access the trail. The problem parking here is that it blocks not only motorists’ but cyclists’ field of vision as both approach the crossing where the trail and road intersect.
DelDOT installed signs a few weeks ago on Minos Conaway Road notifying motorists to not “park, stand or stop” along this section of the road, but a few cars continued to park in this area. DelDOT’s Traffic Safety Team looked again at what could be done to stop parking in this area, and after discussing the matter with the Delaware State Police decided to install traffic safety objects with reflec ....

You may have noticed that police precincts love to tweet photos of their officers handing out bike safety pamphlets to cyclists just trying to go about their day. But come on is this really a good role for the police, to stop people on bikes and make them take a flier on how it’s their fault when they get hit by someone driving a car?
