BHOPAL: A five-year-old girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Wednesday, allegedly by a man who got out on bail recently in a rape case.
The child was a niece of the woman he had raped in July last year, leading police to suspect it s a revenge crime. The accused spent over six months in jail and was let out on bail only a few days ago.
Furious villagers blocked highway traffic and demanded that the man be hanged. A large police force has been deployed in the area.
The victim lived with her grandparents as her parents work as daily wagers in another state. She was reported missing on Wednesday. Her body was found in a mustard farm, around 150m from her house, the next day.

BHOPAL: A man, who had gone to a restaurant along with his friend on Friday evening, allegedly died in mysterious circumstances while checking out. Piplani police acting on information from the eatery, reached the spot and registered a case. Incidentally, it was his birthday.
Investigating officer Pradeep Kumar said, the deceased, identified as Deepak Raikwar, (28), was a resident of Sukh Sagar Colony in Gopal Nagar area of Anand Nagar.
Deepak and his friend had gone to a restaurant in Ayodhya Nagar on Friday evening, where he felt uneasy and decided to leave. When he was paying the bill at the cash counter, he collapsed on the floor.
Manivannan Murugesan
BHOPAL: The Thailand government has sought extradition of Manivannan Murugesan, who is locked up in a jail in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, for the last three years for allegedly smuggling hundreds of critically endangered turtles from the Chambal for sale in the international market.
The Thai government has sent a request for extradition through diplomatic channels, said officials.
Murugesan had approached Supreme Court for bail after Madhya Pradesh high court refused to entertain his plea. During the last SC hearing, MP special task force-wildlife was asked to confirm if Murugesan was wanted by Thai police.
STF produced a letter from Thailand, which says the case against Murugesan is open in that country and that they have initiated the process of extradition. Thailand airport police had earlier issued an international arrest warrant for Murugesan.
