NEWTON FALLS Douglas Allen Hanson, 63, of Newton Falls, passed away of natural causes Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born April 2, 1958, in Warren, the third and youngest son of Ruby and Eugene Hanson and lived most of his life in Newton Falls.
He graduated from Newton Falls High School with the class of 1976. He was a pipefitter working out of Pipefitters Local Union 188.
Doug had an intense love of animals. Prior to his disability, he had been an active member of the Masonic Lodge and a past Worshipful Master.
Preceding Doug were his father, Eugene; his mother, Ruby; his stepfather, Joseph Bajnok; his oldest brother, Dennis Hanson; and his sister-in-law, Angela Hanson. ....

LAKELAND, Fla. Craig “Yogi” Vencel, 61, resident of Lakeland, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 1, 2021, while vacationing with family in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was born April 21,1959, the son of Betty and John Vencel Sr.
Yogi graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1977, was a lover and enthusiast of all sports and served his community with pride and honor. His community involvement began with the Newton Falls High School football team while in high school and continued after graduation playing softball for the Newton Falls AMVETS. He was a lifelong member of The Moose No. 2586 in Barboursville, W.Va., a member of the Lakeland Elks Lodge No. 1291 and the American Legion and finally a supporter of veterans and this country. ....

NEWTON FALLS Kenneth “Kenny” Ferrance, 79, of Newton Falls, passed peacefully Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Washington Square Healthcare Center.
Kenny was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Warren, the son of John and Helen Prutz Ferrance.
He was a 1960 graduate of Newton Falls High School, where he was an outstanding athlete with the football team. He would carry his enthusiasm for the game while playing for the Youngstown University football team. With his induction into the U.S. Army, Kenny would leave the university and enter the service on Dec. 13, 1961. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 12, 1963.
Returning to civilian life, Kenny would begin his career as a business owner, starting as a partner in Carlos’s Nightclub in Newton Falls. He would expand his ownerships to include the Convenient Food Marts in Newton Falls and Warren. ....
