A homeowner in Washington state shot and killed a would-be intruder who investigators said threatened to harm the family if he was not shot.
The Oregonian, citing Clark County sheriff’s officials, reported that the incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday in Battle Ground, northeast of Portland. The report said the suspect, who was not identified, was unknown to the family and managed to get past the locked front gate.
The report described the tense situation. The homeowner was armed when he answered the door and people who were inside the house at the time hid inside a bedroom, the report said. ....

Why do you keep traumatizing yourself over and over?’ I said,’You know, we got our justice. We got our prayers. We had our community’s support. We had a really good system in place for our family and right now we’re just doing our best to raise Danatea [Monica’s daughter] in a good way,’” said Burns. ....

Swiftwolfe appears in N.B. court from Sask. Pen on murder charge

Legal aid lawyer Cara Hill told the court she hasn’t been able to reach Swiftwolfe by phone inside the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. She asked for an adjournment to give her time to talk to him. Crown Prosecutor Oryn Holm agreed to the adjournment until Aug. 5 saying the Crown has minimal disclosure.
Swiftwolfe was arrested July 7 at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary where he is currently serving four years on weapons charges, uttering threats, assault, evading/fleeing from police, and dangerous driving.
Cassandra Fox, 24, is also charged with first-degree murder in Ham’s death. She was arrested at Pine Grove Correctional Centre July 5. She had a show cause hearing scheduled in North Battleford Provincial Court July 9 on charges in another incident but the hearing didn’t proceed. Her next court appearance is Aug. 5. ....

Awareness Walk for Ashley Morin and Megan Gallagher

For the third year in a row, members of the Saskatoon Police Service Victim’s Services Unit will be joining the family of Ashley Morin this weekend in a walk of support and awareness. This year, the family of Megan Gallagher will also take part.
The walk will begin Friday, at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Saskatoon Police Service headquarters building at 76 – 25th Street East. Over the weekend, the walkers will travel Highway 16, arriving in North Battleford on Sunday.
Ashley Morin was last seen July 10, 2018 in North Battleford. Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Victim’s Services Unit have been providing ongoing support to her family since that time. ....
