NHS England creates independent review group for puberty blocker prescriptions
The NHS England will reportedly introduce a new independent review group to assess puberty blocker prescriptions.
The news comes after a March ruling, which gave parents the ability to give consent regarding gender-affirming treatments for their child.
In a statement from the NHS, the organization gave details on the group and what families can expect from the interim changes.
“As an interim measure, and in direct response to the Court’s suggestion that additional safeguards may be warranted, a new independent multidisciplinary professional review group will be established to confirm decision-making has followed a robust process,” the NHS England stated. ....

Children who moved from primary to secondary school last September need extra care and attention to prevent a decline in their mental health, according to a leading child psychotherapist.
Emil Jackson, the head of child psychotherapy in the adolescent service at the Tavistock and Portman Trust in north London, said the transition was often disturbing for 11-year-olds, but has had serious consequences for many over the past 12 months. ....

The management team of the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) in London has been disbanded , documents reveal.
It comes weeks after the clinic, run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, was judged inadequate by the Care Quality Commission.
Watchdogs said staff were afraid to raise concerns about patient safety for fear of retribution from bosses.
A report said: Staff did not always manage risk well. Many of the young [patients] were vulnerable and at risk of self-harm.
