Susan Mutami Slaps Minister Kazembe With US$50 000 Claim Over Unlawful Arrest

CONTROVERSIAL Zimbabwean socialite and businesswoman, Susan Mutami has slapped Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe with a US$50 000 claim for unlawful arrest early this year.
Also being sued by Mutami are; Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga, the Director State Intelligence Services (Central Intelligence Organisation) Isaac Moyo, and Officer-in-Charge Law and Order, Harare.
She was arrested on 18 February 2021 at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport while she was in the company of her four-year-old son.
The two were flying to Dubai and Mutami said because of her detention, she lost some income.
Mutami made headlines early this year when she gave out secrets of her love relationship with Norton independent MP Temba Mliswa and on government and political secrets. ....

A local law firm has written to Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga advising the police chief to investigate the conduct of some Kadoma officers who are defying a High Court order in a case the firm is interested in.
In the letter written Saturday, Bherende Law Chambers is complaining against the conduct of Matanga’s subordinates.
This follows the arrest of 15 employees of DS Mining syndicate for alleged trespassing, yet they were working within the premises of the company at Queensdale Farm.
High Court Justice Munangati Manongwa last month barred the Kadoma based ZRP officers and one Spencer Tshuma from interfering with DS Mining syndicate. ....

A LOCAL law firm has written to Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga advising the police chief to investigate the conduct of some Kadoma officers who are defying a High Court order in a case the firm is interested in.

Widow Demands $3,1 Million From Minister Over Hubby Killing By Police

A 60-YEAR-OLD widowed Harare woman has confronted Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe with a $3,1 million lawsuit following the fatal shooting of her now late husband by police in 2018.
Lucy Nhamo’s husband Zephaniah Nhamo, a newspaper vendor then, was fatally shot by one Onias Muzanenhamo at the Seke Flyover.
Nhamo said if her husband was still alive, he would have been providing $20 000 for her per month but the support has been lost because of his death.
“On February 22 2018, the defendant during the course of his employment and whilst serving his duties as a police officer and on behalf of Kazembe, Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga and Officer Commanding Harare Province, cited as first to third respondents, wrongfully and negligently killed Zephaniah Nhamo at Zeke Flyover by shooting him,” read the summons in part. ....

Kazembe, Matanga Defend $900k Lawsuit Of Gambler Shot 5 Times By Cops

HOME Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe has refused to pay $900 000 in damages to a Kwekwe man who was shot five times in the abdomen by police officers last year in February while gambling.
The complainant, Tinashe Deshe later sued Kazembe and Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga arguing the shooting was unjustified.
However, the two top officials in their defence argued Deshe, who was shot while gambling, deserved the treatment he received as he had resisted arrest and threatened police officers with a machete.
“The plaintiff was gambling. He had a machete and he advanced towards the police officers thereby threatening them. The shooting was not neglect but necessary in the circumstances,” reads their response filed through a lawyer. ....
