Delaware teens charged after 30-mile car chase through Maryland

Wilmington has now seen 49 people shot, 11 fatally, so far this year. This is the most people shot and killed this early in the year since 2017 – the record year for shooting and killings in Delaware s largest city.
At this time in 2017, there were 70 people shot, 16 fatally. That year ended with 197 people shot, 32 fatally.
On Sunday, Maryland State Police was contacted shortly before 10 p.m. by Delaware authorities about a black Jeep Patriot heading toward the Maryland/Delaware state line. Maryland Police were told that the Jeep was stolen and was wanted in connection with multiple shootings in Wilmington over the weekend. ....

Three teens who Maryland State Police say are wanted in connection with multiple shootings in Delaware have been charged with weapon crimes after a mileslong chase through two Maryland counties that resulted in a pair of police cruisers being struck and a stolen Jeep crashed.

The teens – two 17-year-old brothers from Wilmington and an 18-year-old Claymont man – are wanted in connection with multiple shootings that occurred over the weekend in Wilmington, Maryland State Police said in a statement. ....

Wilmington shooting: Male, 14, charged with reckless homicide, police said

Police in Wilmington said the 14-year-old male juvenile has been charged by prosecutors with reckless homicide and felonious assault in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old .
Chief Ron Cravens, in a news conference shared by the department, said the number one priority is the safe apprehension of the juvenile.
The chief declined to elaborate on the juvenile s potential whereabouts or any possible motive for the shooting, citing an ongoing investigation. He said the department has had very little contact with the 14-year-old,and declined to elaborate because he is a juvenile.
“The firearm has not been recovered, and we’re considering him armed at this time, Cravens said. ....

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Police in Wilmington are looking for a suspect who allegedly set a Christmas tree on fire on Dec. 29 at a business in the Downtown area.
“The subsequent fire lead to significant damage to the interior of the business. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Wilmington Police Department at (910)-343-3609 or use the new Wilmington NC PD app for anonymous methods,” according to police. ....

WILMINGTON, Delaware (WPVI) Police in Wilmington, Delaware say a death investigation is underway following the discovery of a woman s body on Monday night.
The body was found around 7 p.m. near Lower Liberty and Lower Elm streets, not far from the Wilmington riverfront.
The body has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences.
The woman has not yet been identified.
