Two held after ganja seizure in Spur Tree, Manchester

Detectives from the Police Narcotics Division seized approximately 669 pounds of compressed ganja in Spur Tree, Manchester on Saturday, May 1.
Reports are that about 10:45 am, a narcotics team supported by members of the Manchester Police Division, was on operations in the Spur Tree area in the parish when they intercepted an International tipper truck with two men aboard.
During a search of the vehicle, 13 knitted plastic bags all containing compressed ganja weighing approximately 669 pounds, were found.
The drugs and the truck were seized and the driver and passenger were taken into custody.
The drug has an estimated street value of $2.68 million. ....

PATERSON, NJ - Paterson Police Narcotics Division made a “major accomplishment” Tuesday with the closure of an “illegal drug distribution ring and manufacturing plant” that was operating from a Bergen Street home, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale announced.
According to Speziale, the operation was launched in response to a recent spike in criminal activity as well as numerous citizen complaints and led to the seizure of 13,350 glassines of heroin, 83 vials of crack cocaine, and 14 jars and 84 bags of marijuana. ....

Top-tier drug smugglers from Central and South America are reportedly living in Jamaica with the sole purpose of easing multibillion-dollar cocaine shipments into North America, Europe and Canada. They provide “added insurance”, recruit couriers and use loads of cash to infiltrate local security systems.
Some of these smugglers are so comfortable they have made lives in Jamaica; and have become integral players in scouting routes for major shipments such as the recent 611lb cocaine run destined for the United States that was ultimately busted by cops at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA).
