ART EXHIBITION: The Heart of Bolton - a Local Art Exhibition and Photography Competition

PHOTOGRAPHERS are invited to bring this proud town into focus for a new exhibition opening this summer.
Bolton based arts and heritage organisation, Live from Work and Bolton Station Community Partnership have teamed up to put the spotlight on Bolton in Interchange: The Heart of Bolton at the Platform Five Gallery at Bolton Train Station on Trinity Street.
It will feature a mix of photos by Julia Uttley and cartoons by Dave Burnham.
The images will show Bolton as it is today, offering contrasting images of the town.
Julia said: “The mix of photos and cartoons of the same places sounds a bit unusual but it works really well, offering different ideas of places we all know.” ....

Anthology published showcasing poetry inspired by Bolton railway station

A POETRY anthology has been released by Bolton Station Community Partnership to showcase the winners and shortlisted entries for a recent competition.
The Platform Anthology features the eight winning poems of the competition which was funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
It include illustrations by artist Alison Timmins, who holds of University of Bolton School of Arts Masters degree.
Commuters will also be able to see the poems installed on the platform itself.
Rail Officer Mark Angelucci said: TfGM is happy to support Bolton Station Community Partnership and its marvellous work involving the local community.
We wish to thank all of the contributors for their efforts and look forward to seeing the winning works on display, where they can both inspire passengers and brighten up the platform approaches. ....

Winners of Bolton railway station poetry competition revealed

Four writers from the under-25 category will have their work displayed on pillars in Bolton railway station.
Currently there are a selection of poems already installed, however, the latest editions have all been written by people living in Bolton.
The competition was organised by Julie Levy of Bolton Station Community Partnership and Dave Morgan of Live from Worktown.
It was funded by Transport for Greater Manchester.

The winners were: Scarlett Holt with her poem Life is a Journey, Seth Maher and his poem Amazing Train, Caitlin Jones with Once, We Were Explorers and Abigail King s The Unknown. ....
