Mass. reports 84,915 new COVID-19 vaccinations

Massachusetts reported 1,392 new confirmed coronavirus cases Wednesday, while the seven-day average ticked up to 1,198 from 1,194 the day before.
The Department of Public Health also reported that the high-stakes campaign to vaccinate people got another 84,915 shots into people’s arms.
The new confirmed coronavirus cases brought the total number in the state during the pandemic to 643,428.
The department also reported 12 new confirmed coronavirus deaths, bringing the state’s total to 17,227. ....

.-The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, has received a grant of $2.5 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative, which will support an endowment for a new curatorial position dedicated to Islamic art. Working in collaboration with Islamic communities in the Greater Boston area and beyond, the inaugural Assistant Curator of Islamic Art will draw on the Museums collectionamong the most important holdings of Islamic art in the country and the worldto create exhibitions, publications and public programs. The MFA is one of 18 organizations from across the U.S. receiving grants through the initiative. ....
