Mayor Janey gives update on COVID-19 in Boston, police accountability

Boston Mayor Kim Janey is ordering the incoming leader of a new police accountability office to develop a plan for reviewing the department s internal affairs policy in light of revelations that an officer who was accused of sexually assaulting a child in the mid-90s remained on the force and rose to lead the police union. Janey s announcement Thursday came two days after her office released some redacted documents from the Internal Affairs Investigation into a 1995 child abuse allegation filed against Patrick Rose Sr. Other documents from Rose s file were not released, citing the need to keep the names of witnesses and victims of sexual assault confidential.
