Marlborough plans forum Thursday on west side fire station plans

MARLBOROUGH City leaders on Thursday will hold a virtual forum on the proposed site of a long-awaited west side fire station.
The forum, hosted by Mayor Arthur Vigeant and Fire Chief Kevin Breen, will be held via Zoom at 6 p.m. A link will be posted on the city s website and Facebook page prior to the forum.
“We will be having a discussion and answering questions regarding the proposed site selection for a new fire station in west Marlborough,” Vigeant wrote on his Facebook page.
Last fall, the city agreed to purchase a 1.23-acre property on Elm Street for $440,000 that city officials have stressed could be part of a site for a west side fire station. The property, which includes a single-family home, was split into two parcels. The city kept a 35,000-square-foot plot near Bigelow Street and Locke Drive that could be used for a fire station. ....

Developers of Rte. 20 apartment proposal pledge $200K for traffic light, but state has final say

MARLBOROUGH Developers of a proposed 140-unit apartment complex at the former McGee Farm property on Boston Post Road East (Rte. 20) pledged $200,000 to study, design and construct a traffic light at the entrance of the facility.
But members of the City Council’s Urban Affairs Committee continued to stress they cannot support the project without a guarantee from the state that a traffic light will be installed.
Waypoint Residential, a Stamford, Connecticut-based development company, is seeking a special permit to build a three-building apartment complex at the site. The company initially planned to build a 188-unit, four-building development, but scaled back its proposal in response to concerns from neighbors and city leaders. ....

Marlborough City Councilors want MassDOT to say yes to traffic light on Route 20

MARLBOROUGH Members of the City Council s Urban Affairs Committee are calling for the installation of a traffic light at the entrance of a proposed apartment complex at the former McGee Farm property on Boston Post Road East (Rte. 20) to ensure traffic safety.
Waypoint Residential, a Stamford, Connecticut-based development company, is seeking a special permit to build a 140-unit apartment complex at the site. The company initially planned to build a 188-unit, four-building development, but has since scaled back its proposal in response to concerns from neighbors and city leaders.
The proposed Walcott Heritage Farms complex will now feature 96 one-bedroom apartments and 44 two-bedroom units. Urban Affairs Committee members are worried about traffic safety in that area, particularly for residents turning left into and out of the complex onto a heavily traveled section of Rte. 20. ....
